In the past few years, reports of a brief inquiry into former Vice President Joe Biden’s golf club membership surfaced from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for a few weeks in 2016 has gone largely unnoticed.
This investigation began when the FBI received a tip from an individual regarding Joe Biden and a golf club membership. According to multiple sources, the tip-off provided to the bureau alleged that Biden was receiving payments from a now defunct private golf club outside of Susquehanna County.
No two sources can agree on why or how this investigation began. Some sources have speculated that Biden’s involvement with the golf club was due to campaign activity, while others suggest the alleged payments were related to a larger criminal enterprise. Regardless, the FBI began to investigate the matter.
The inquiry was short-lived, and the matter did not receive much attention due to the timing of the investigation. During the summer of 2016, rumors regarding Russian interference in the United States Presidential Election of that year were starting to emerge. Most of the public’s attention was directed towards these headline-grabbing allegations of foreign interference, leaving the Biden golf club inquiry to curl up and die on the vine.
In the end, no evidence of any wrongdoing was found, ending the inquiry. Pundits and political opponents of Biden may try to use this brief inquiry as a tool of scrutiny towards the former Vice President; however, with no evidence of any wrongdoing uncovered, it looks like this will be the conclusion of the Biden golf club membership inquiry.
