The United States Presidential race just keeps heating up. With four debates now in the books, the competition for the Republican nomination is becoming increasingly contentious. And this week, four Republican candidates qualified for the fourth GOP primary debate to be held on September 16th.
The four candidates who will be participating in the fourth GOP primary debate are U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, former New York Governor George Pataki, business executive Carly Fiorina, and former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore. All four candidates managed to collect the requisite amount of donations and poll numbers to make the cutoff.
These four candidates join six former participants in the conversation about who should be the next Commander in Chief. The list of current candidates includes billionaire Donald Trump, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, neurosurgeon Ben Carson, and Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
The increase in the number of viable candidates is seen as a reflection of a broadening field in terms of political diversity. With almost double the amount of candidates compared to the first GOP primary debate, the Republican Party is being forced to consider many different viewpoints on the same pool of issues.
The fourth GOP primary debate will be a crucial point for many of the candidates, as many of them will be looking to gain momentum and prove their worth as potential presidential candidates. With a higher number of contenders all fighting for the top spot, the competition is sure to be…. fierce.
It will be interesting to see how the debate plays out and which candidates come out on top. Until then, it’s up to the American people to judge who is the best fit for the office of President. Until then, we can only wait and see how the Republican Party continues to shape up in the lead up to the general election.
