In recent months, disgraced former Vice President of the United States, James Biden, has been putting his business deals under the microscope after tapes of him discussing bribes to a government official were obtained by the FBI.
The FBI is currently in the midst of a major bribery probe, one which concerns the murky dealings of a former top executive of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. While the executive in question has not been named, the tapes provided by the FBI do indicate that the bribery discussions involved James Biden, the younger brother of former Vice President Joe Biden.
The contents of the tape are alarming, to say the least. In the recording, James Biden is apparently heard discussing financial incentives for the official, which the FBI has referred to as “illegal payments.” The purpose of the payments appears to be to influence the outcome of a federal housing project.
The recordings, which also include some damning emails between James and the HUD official, have caused a stir both in D.C. and in Biden’s home state of Delaware. Noted legal analysts have argued that the case could cast a very serious shadow over the prospective presidential campaign of former VP Biden.
Of course, the protection of justice can never be compromised for the sake of politics. James Biden should not be judged prematurely and held accountable for any and all wrongs he might have committed prior to the FBI investigation. That said, it is certainly understandable as to why the former VP’s supporters are becoming increasingly wary and fearful of the potential implications of this case.
The bottom line here is that all of those involved need to fully cooperate with the FBI’s request for information. James Biden in particular needs to reveal any and all specifics of deals in which he has been involved in the past, especially if they involve the upper echelons of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Until that time, Biden supporters will have to reserve judgment and hope for full justice to be served for all involved.
