Canada Silver Cobalt began its maiden drilling program at its Lowney-Lac Edouard property in Quebec, aiming to identify nickel-copper-cobalt mineralization.
The mineralization sought at the property is prospective for cobalt, copper, and nickel. It is expected to be located in the host rocks of the stratigraphic sequence at the property that is known to bear similar mineralization elsewhere.
The maiden drilling program was launched on June 15, 2021, in an effort to identify and delineate potential nickel-copper-cobalt mineralized zones at the property. The drilling campaign will consist of at least six NQ-size drill holes, totaling 1,035 meters.
The success of this maiden drilling program will determine the ability for follow-up exploration efforts of the property. Canada Silver Cobalt’s Chief Executive Officer, Adam Travis, expressed his enthusiasm for the project in a recent statement:
“We are pleased to begin our maiden drill program at Lac Edouard. The Lac Edouard Property comprises a high-grade cobalt-copper-nickel mineralized splay in the Destor-Porcupine Fault of the Abitibi Region, one of the most prolific gold mining regions in the world. We are excited to begin this initial project phase.”
The significance of the Lowney-Lac Edouard property lies in its past production. Cerro Matoso and Canadian Royalties’ Raglan Mine are two of the past producing mines in the region. If the property is successful, it would be a boon for the local community and the industry as a whole.
The flurry of activity coming from Canada Silver Cobalt at the Lowney-Lac Edouard property has been met with excitement by industry watchers. With the potential for significant nickel-copper-cobalt mineralization, the stakes are high. Only time will tell if Canada Silver Cobalt will succeed in their quest, but they’re certainly off to a great start.
